Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco is an American-Canadian songwriter and singer. She's released over 20 albums. DiFranco's songs are classified as folk or alternative rock. They also include influences from jazz hip hop punk as well as rock and roll. Ani DiFranco has been widely acknowledged as the feminist's icon and Grammy-winning artist is considered to be the father of DIY music. It was one of the very first musicians to launch an independent label back in 1990. DiFranco was born on the 23rd September 1970 in Buffalo, New York. She is the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross), who met Dante Americo DiFranco while studying at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The mother of her is from Montreal as is her father, who has Italian roots. Ani diFranco wrote and sang the track 32 Flavors. It was included as the fifth single from DiFranco's 1995 studio album Not a Pretty Girl. This track appears in the soundtrack to the Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate from 1999. In 2013 DiFranco apologized when it was revealed that she planned to host a three-day workshop on a former Louisiana slavery plantation. Though she was able to pull the workshop out several people (including our own paper) were not able to feel regret. DiFranco apologized for her mistake two days after the initial. She's known for her Little Folksinger style, but she's collaborated with many artists as well as genres ranging such as Pete Seeger to Chuck D. She lives in New Orleans. Ani DiFranco lives in New Orleans with Kristen Ford. When she was 14, she started to compose her own songs. When she was in her teens she performed songs at bars and caf s. DiFranco began taking lessons at Buffalo State College at age 16 following her graduation from the Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts.
