Silk was born in Fredericton (New Brunswick), Canada. Ilkay is the daughter Peter, a teacher and an accomplished actress and playwright. Peter was educated at St. Thomas University. Anna recounts some of the first moments in her existence when she would go to watch her mother perform during play rehearsals. Silk produced a number of commercials when she was still in the midst of her childhood. She received a Bachelor's of Arts at St. Thomas University in 1997. Theatre St. Thomas staged two plays in the early years: Seven Menus & The Kitchen. Silk started her career in acting after moving to Toronto the Canadian city of Toronto in the month of November 1999. She then moved into Los Angeles for the remainder of that decade. Seth Cooperman met Silk at an Actors Workshop at Los Angeles in 2007. In 2009 they were legally married in December of 2009. On April 10, 2011 the couple renewed their vows in a Jewish ceremony in Fredericton after she converted to Judaism.
